Run by Annette Gibbons - a FoodLovers Food Expert - Cumbria on a Plate is best summed up as a Cumbrian food safari. Annette will chauffeur-drive you around her own little black book of artisan producers and farmers in the region, sampling as you go.
You might meet farmers and learn how they raise their livestock, artisan cheese- or butter-makers, find out how local organic wheat is ground and hand-crafted into bread and even sample local chocolates. No two food safaris are the same and none of the producers you visit are generaly open to the public, so you really do get an insider's knowledge of the area.
Annette also runs cookery demonstrations from her kitchen during the winter months, using not only local produce, but also her own-grown vegetables and eggs.
