Cookery Course

Stephen and Joanna Bulmer opened Brook Hall Cookery School in May 2007, offering cookery classes for amateur cooks of all abilities and ages - including children - across a wide range of cuisines, together with private dining at Brook Hall and an event catering service. They're also running one-day Preparing for Christmas courses throughout November and December - book early...!

Stephen was previously Chef/Director of the Raymond Blanc Cookery School at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons for six years.  During that time he gained acclaim from students and journalists alike as an outstanding teacher with a rare gift for combining entertainment with education.

Before turning to teaching, Stephen worked at the highest level of restaurant cuisine, including four years as Senior Chef at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons.  He has also worked at Babington House, Bath; Zafferano, Knightsbridge; Mallory Court, Warwickshire and George Blanc in Burgundy, after training at the Box Tree, Yorkshire. Keen to broaden his knowledge further, he also gained experience in Thai cuisine at Nahm, London; in Japanese cuisine at Nobu, London and at several restaurants of note in the USA.

Stephen and Joanna also established and ran Atelier restaurant in West Soho between 1994 and 1997, which was awarded a Michelin Red M (now Bib Gourmand) and 3 AA rosettes.

Stephen was a national finalist in Young Chef of the Year in 1992 and 1993 and has appeared on various TV programmes including Ready, Steady, Cook.
